Job Description: UC Title: Scientist, Med Lab I FVR-1 Position Number: Reports to: Dir, Laboratory FVR Working Title: Scientist, Med Lab I FVR-1 Cost Center: Laboratory-Clinical-FVR (422060) Bargaining Unit: NUHW-RNs & Prof FLSA: Nonexempt Date Created: 5/06/2024 Job Code: 008412 Hours: 10 Shift: Nights FTE: 1 Position Summary: The Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) is primarily responsible for the performance of laboratory testing on patient samples for the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases. The CLS must ensure that all the equipment and instruments used to perform patient testing are maintained according to the manufacturer's specifications and that both the instruments and chemicals used must pass quality control testing before patient testing is allowed to proceed. The CLS must undergo regular competency test to check his/her ability to perform highly complexed testing and must continue to pass these competencies in order to maintain his/her ability to perform patient testing. Required Qualifications: Minimum Education: Knowledge necessary to obtain Clinical Laboratory Scientist license in the state of California and current California Clinical Laboratory Scientist license. Preferred: Preferred Experience: Two years recent experience as a medical technologist in an acute care setting preferred.
