Codexis is a leading enzyme engineering company leveraging its proprietary CodeEvolver technology platform to discover, develop and enhance novel, high-performance enzymes and other classes of proteins. Codexis enzymes solve for real-world challenges associated with small molecule pharmaceuticals manufacturing and nucleic acid synthesis. The Company is currently developing its proprietary ECO Synthesis platform to enable the scaled manufacture of RNAi therapeutics through an enzymatic route. About the Opportunity: The Scientist I is part of analytical development and will be involved in method development for pharmaceutical biocatalysts and life science enzymes. The Scientist I will also work closely with the Quality Control team and participate in method validation. This role will also contribute to analytical studies to support product development for life science enzymes and will be based in Redwood City, CA. In this role you will be responsible for:
  • Design and carry out method development
  • Design and execute physicochemical characterization on proteins and analytical studies to support product development
  • Analyze experiment data and report scientific results
  • Prepare test methods, protocols, summary reports and technical documentation
  • Participate to assay transfer, qualification and validation as per ICH guidelines
  • Work with other project team members and communicate results with the team

The essential requirements of the job include:
  • PhD degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Microbiology or related discipline with 0-2 years' experience in analytical development
  • Experience with protein characterization and enzyme-based assay
  • Experience with independent design and execution of analytical development projects
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

Additional experience that would be valuable for this role includes:
  • Experience with analytical technique, software and instrumentation, such as HPLC, UV, SDS-PAGE, ELISA.
  • Experience with the GMP practices in a regulated environment.

CODEXIS PAY TRANSPARENCY: The anticipated salary range for candidates who will work in Redwood City is $122,500 to $135,000. The final salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and length of experience within the job, type and length of experience within the industry, education, etc. Codexis is a multi-state employer, and this salary range may not reflect positions that work in other states .
