Purpose Maintain an orderly, clean, and safe environment in the college stockrooms and in laboratory rooms used for chemistry, biology and physics. Position Code/Classification/Level/Work Relationships HRTMNS20310 Hourly Exempt, Non-Bargaining Unit Reports to: Dean of Transfer Principal working relationships: Mathematics and Natural Sciences Department Chair, Chemistry, Biology, and Physics Instructors, and the Manager of Construction Projects & Facilities Primary Responsibilities: Ensure chemicals are stored in proper locations and containers. Clean glassware and store in proper location. Ensure Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDT) are kept current and stored in a visible location that is consistent with regulations of the fire code. Use computer software to produce proper safety labels for chemicals and place correct safety labels on chemicals in stockroom. Regularly clean laboratory tables in all laboratories. Ensure the health and safety of all students, employees and visitors. Other duties as assigned. Coordinates: Work with the Dean of Transfer and Mathematics and Natural Sciences Department Chair concerning all phases of responsibilities. Meet with the chemistry, biology, and physics instructors concerning inventory, storage, and disposal of items. Work with the Manager of Construction Projects & Facilities regarding disposal of chemicals. Work with the Manager of Construction Projects & Facilities regarding physical condition of stockroom and laboratories. Assist With: Keep all laboratories in an orderly and safe condition. Keep stockrooms clean, safe, and orderly. Keep inventory of all laboratory equipment. Maintain orderliness in storage of all laboratory equipment. Schedule availability of equipment to be used in lab experiments. Minimum Necessary Education, Skills, and Experience: Associate degree or related specialized training and three years' work experience in a skill required. NAACLS Certification 6 months laboratory experience preferred. Working Knowledge of computer systems and software. The ability to communicate successfully both verbally and in writing with clients without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state or local laws. Spanish or French proficiency preferred. Physical Requirements to Perform Job Functions: Basic dexterity skills (computer work, telephoning, and other office equipment). General physical effort required includes sitting, bending, reaching, and some lifting (20 lbs. or less) and the ability to place a work order for anything over that limit.
