Job Description / Essential Elements: Print GENERAL DESCRIPTION Provide individual and group counseling for students and parents, including parent education; provide psycho educational assessments and diagnoses of specific learning, emotional and behavioral disabilities, including recommendations for remediation and/or placement in regular and special education programs; consult with parents, teachers and school administrators to assist them in working with students' learning and adjustment difficulties; consult with teachers and specialists in developing classroom methods and procedures for overcoming learning and behavior disorders; consult with school administrators regarding appropriate learning objectives for children; plan developmental and remedial programs for students in regular and special education school programs and develop and evaluate experimental programs; provide and participate in in-service training for district staff; served as liaison between family and community agencies when therapeutic, academic and/or social services are required; maintain adequate records of all psycho educational services performed; other related duties as assigned by the Director of Student Services. QUALIFICATIONS California credential authorizing service as a School Psychologist. PHYSICAL ABILITIES Hearing and speaking to exchange information in person and on the telephone and to make presentations; seeing to conduct inspections, read, prepare and proofread documents; sitting or standing for extended periods of time; dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard and other equipment; kneeling, bending at the waist and reaching overhead, above the shoulders and horizontally to retrieve and store supplies, lifting heavy objects; climbing during inspections; walking over rough or uneven surfaces at construction sites and during inspections.
