Job Posting Title: School Nurse (Apply directly to Parker Performing Arts School- DO NOT apply online with DCSD) Job Description: All employees of Parker Performing Arts School will work together to achieve our school's vision and mission. In addition to the duties and responsibilities listed below, we seek a school School Nurse who will strengthen the educational process through improvement and protection of the health status of students so they can benefit from the school experience. The School Nurse will be collaborative with colleagues and is willing to work above and beyond their job description in order to ensure the health needs of students are addressed during the school day. Position Specific Information (if Applicable): Responsibilities: Provide management of students with chronic health conditions Manages communicable disease outbreaks Directs the immunization program Monitors, supervises, and provides oversight for delegated nursing tasks Develops and implements health care plans Serves as a liaison between teachers, administrators, parents and community health care providers Provides for the care of acute health care needs, including emergencies Conducts health assessments for Special Education, IEPs, and 504 evaluations Participates in the identification process of children with special needs as part of a multidisciplinary team Provides prevention and health promotion education Oversees screening programs including vision and hearing Provides training, delegation and supervision to school staff of specialized health care procedures Writes and interprets the health assessment for an Individualized Healthcare Plan Manages medication administration, including maintaining prescription medications, written authorization from health care practitioner, written parental permission, documentation of medications administered, and annual training for unlicensed assistive personnel to administer medications Manages and maintains confidential student health records and complies with FERPA privacy regulations. Develops procedures to mitigate exposure to harmful bodily fluids and methods to properly dispose of contaminated materials. Follows all health and safety procedures Arranges trainings for CPR and emergency response Positively represents the school and its mission to the students, parents, colleagues, and general public Medical arrangement/oversight for field trips Ability to work cooperatively with school staff and administration Other duties as assigned Qualifications: A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited school of nursing or RN diploma from an accredited school Registered nurse license in the State of Colorado Ability to maintain all health care reporting to Douglas County School District. Knowledge of school health and safety codes. Preferred Qualifications: Experience in creating an organization and maintaining sustainability Experience in charter schools Responsibilities: Collaborate with others to fulfill responsibilities related to building district, regional and state goals and priorities. Assess the health of the school community and advocate for physical and emotional safety through collaboration with all stakeholders. Identify students with health needs requiring modifications or accommodations in the school setting or during school sponsored events and activities. Obtain and interpret student health data for special education assessments and 504 accommodation plans. Participate as the health expert on the RTI, special education and 504 teams by mitigating health related obstacles to learning. Develop a health care plan to meet students' individual health needs in the school setting. Document health related services in designated Medicaid documentation system for the DCSD School Medicaid Reimbursement Program as assigned. Provide direct health services for the student when appropriate. Develop lesson plans and/or outlines for identified health education needs. Design disease prevention and health promotion strategies for the students and school staff. Provide ongoing consultation services to staff members. Use evaluation of student outcomes to measure the effectiveness of intervention. Ensure safe delegation of nursing interventions to unlicensed assistive personnel by adhering to the provisions of the Colorado Nurse Practice Act (CRS 12-38-101). Assure student health information is protected in accordance with Family Educational Right to Privacy Act (FERPA) and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). Participate in professional growth opportunities. Participate in comprehensive health education programs and school health policy development. Time off or Off-Track Days are then granted based on the position. Any exceptions to the normal off-track time will be noted in the Additional Position Details section above, as scheduled work days.) Minimum Hire Rate: $61,535.00 USD Annual Maximum Hire Rate: $95,041.00 USD Annual Full Salary Range: $61,535.00 USD - $128,547.00 USD Annual All salary amounts listed above are based on a full-time (1.0) FTE. If applicable, part-time salaries will be prorated according to the assigned FTE.
