Brookfield Elementary School is seeking a dedicated and compassionate school nurse to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for promoting a healthy school environment and providing healthcare services to students and staff. The school nurse will serve as the direct link between physicians, families and community agencies to assure access and continuity of health care for students. The school nurse will provide tertiary care, relevant instruction, counseling, as well as developing and maintaining strong relationships with both students and their families. The school nurse practices in accordance with the current standards and functions as defined by the Vermont Nurse Practice Act and the Standard of Practice; Vermont School Health Services Manual. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Provide comprehensive student healthcare, including mandated screenings, immunizations, and assistance in accessing medical and dental services. Promote a safe and healthy school environment by monitoring and addressing safety hazards and sanitary conditions. Train staff on health procedures and maintain records of training. Develop, implement, and evaluate healthcare plans for students, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team. Assist in developing school and district health policies and procedures. Interpret health assessments for parents, teachers, and administrators. Implement safety measures for students with special healthcare needs. Participate in evaluation processes and professional development activities. Maintain accurate data records for school and state reporting, including immunizations and student health records. Represent the school at district and SU-wide health meetings. Conduct health education sessions for staff, parents, and students. Serve as a faculty member involved in the overall school program. Provide information on current health practices and issues through various mediums. Attend support meetings as requested by administration. Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily, in addition to the following: Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree and working knowledge of Vermont's Framework of Standards required. Recent experience working in a Vermont school district is preferred. Hold a valid license as a registered nurse in the state of Vermont. Hold a first aid and BLS certification. Have completed an approved educational program based on the requirement for delivery of health services as defined in the Vermont License Standards.
