Job Summary Job Summary Under the general direction from the Kelseyville Unified School District's ("District") Director of Student Support Services, the School-Based Mental Health Professional provides school-based mental health services to District students, conducts mental health assessments, facilitates and promotes appropriate mental and behavioral health skills, and may participate at Individualized Education Program ("IEP") meetings including but not limited to goal writing, counseling, and related services. The School-Based Mental Health Professional identifies the behavioral and mental health needs of District students and develops goals and objectives for students to progress, and may implement services needed to meet those goals through an individual plan or IEP. Requirements / Qualifications Requirements / Qualifications Job Requirements/Minimum Qualifications: Pupil Personnel Services Credential (PPSC). Education-based mental health and behavioral and education-based methods appropriate to meeting the needs of students and their families, including mental health disorders and substance use disorders. Experience with mental health related agencies and resources. Federal and State laws concerning family rights and behavioral and mental health services. Behavioral change theories and practices including early intervention positive behavior support. Tiered intervention practices. Counseling techniques and crisis intervention. Health regulations and ethics related to school-based mental health services including Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). Documentation and billing requirements for behavioral health services Skills/Abilities: Identify the behavioral and mental health needs of students. Work as part of a multidisciplinary educational support team. Develop and implement appropriate behavioral and mental health services. Work Independently. Communicate effectively in oral and written form. Maintain accurate records. Meet established time frames. Establish and maintain effective relationships with those contacted in the course of work. Provide behavioral and mental health services to students and their families. Conduct individual and group therapy sessions. Collaborate with other system of care partners. Organize work and provide effective services within a limited timeframe. Conduct assessments, crisis intervention, and counseling. Interpret assessment data. Maintain confidentiality and discretion.
