As a Scheduler/Registrar, you will be responsible for scheduling and pre-registration of all outpatient exams for Centralized Scheduling and for communicating with patients, medical staff and interdepartmental personnel regarding customer needs. You will be responsible for:

  • Verifying insurance and program eligibility and performing medical necessity checks on all Medicare patients.
  • Capturing all required data elements to complete the scheduling (as indicated by department protocol) and registration processes according to established policies and procedures required to meet state, federal and accreditation standards.
  • Performing phone registration to ensure scheduled patients are processed and served in a timely manner upon their arrival.
  • Answering all telephone calls by the third ring and following established customer service guidelines for telephone transactions.
  • Copying and distributing all necessary paperwork associated with scheduling and pre-registration to the appropriate entities.
  • Ensuring that accurate patient information is collected and patients are aware of hospital policies and procedures.
  • Participating in meeting departmental needs and productivity goals through flexibility in cross training and/or working alternative shifts.
  • Maintaining ongoing files (electronic or manual) of daily procedures and exams scheduled. Prepares daily pre-registration reports for distribution as applicable.
