The Sanitation Technician is responsible to properly and safely clean, sanitize and inspect the entire facility to ensure production can begin as scheduled daily. Sanitary conditions must be present to produce high quality products for our customers, which is accomplished by strictly following the plant's Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures while being able to pass the pre-operative inspections performed by the Quality Assurance Department as well as USDA. This position description does not contain a comprehensive list of required duties and responsibilities. WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR High School diploma or GED is required; Prior experience in sanitation with experience in using chemicals and equipment in dry/wet environments preferred; Possess good employee relation skills, as well as good verbal communication skills, teamwork, ability to follow instructions given by Sanitation Supervisor/Lead and Quality Assurance Department; Proficient knowledge of safe lifting procedures, be able to strictly follow lockout procedures and follow safe handling procedures for working with and transporting chemicals. WHAT YOU WILL DO Tear down equipment & prepare the facility for cleaning; lockout equipment using appropriate locks & tags; Clean & sanitize the entire facility, the equipment and fixtures including spiral freezer, walls and floors using strong chemicals; ensure any condensation is removed from equipment; Effectively inspect all equipment and areas looking for unacceptable conditions which could lead to product contamination if left undetected; Properly set up, dry, & prepare the equipment & facility for production to begin; special cleaning of the facility; Always maintain strict adherence to the Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures and Quality Assurance Guidelines to ensure the wholesomeness of our product. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Ability to work in a wet environment with reduced visibility on slick surfaces/floors and with frequent exposure to noise, heat, cold, cleaners, hazardous chemicals, and other elements; Ability to physically lift up to a 70-pound guards (unassisted/assisted), floor mats, and drag up high pressure hoses weighing up to 35 pounds unassisted; Bending, turning, stooping, turning, twisting, kneeling, and occasionally working on a ladder will also be required; Able to work well with co-workers in a physically close environment.
