Sanitation Specialist

Position: Full-time hourly working under a collective bargaining agreement at the National Training Center (NTC), Fort Irwin, California. Responsibilities: Cleans and keeps in an orderly condition working areas and washrooms, or premises of an office, work areas, buildings or other establishments. Cleans and services all halls, storage areas, and stairways but not in shops and equipment rooms. Duties involve a combination of sweeping, mopping or scrubbing, stripping, waxing, buffing, polishing floors, and vacuuming and shampooing carpets; removing trash, and other refuse to include removal of foreign objects (i.e., trash, cigarette butts, refuse) within 50 feet of assigned facilities; dusting equipment, furniture or fixtures; polishing metal fixtures or trimmings, cleaning of glass and light fixtures; providing supplies and minor facility maintenance services; and cleaning lavatories, showers and restrooms to include disinfecting restroom fixtures such as basins, mop sinks, commodes, urinals, privacy partitions, and ceramic wall surfaces; ensuring adequate stock of soap, paper towel and bathroom tissue is maintained in dispensers; cleaning ashtrays, and emptying wastebaskets, trash cans and replacing trash can liners as needed. Performs janitorial services on a seven (7) days a week basis during rotational periods and five (5) days a week during non-rotational periods. Follows general housekeeping procedures to prevent an accumulation of dirt and dust on equipment cabinets, console shelves, panels, cable runs, storage shelves, floors, and other areas where such accumulation would degrade equipment performance, cause safety hazards, or exhibit an unsatisfactory work center appearance. When dusting office furniture avoids disturbing papers or documents on desks and tables. Desired Physical Abilities: Must be able to perform duties and travel in extreme weather conditions (heat, cold, and wind) and at height (helicopter travel, mountain tops, elevated walk areas and towers). Special Requirements: Must have valid California driver license and maintain Post driving privileges. Obtain Military licenses & Night Vision certification if required. Travel off-road in company 4x4 vehicles and military tactical vehicles if required. Must be able to lift a maximum of 50lbs and wear appropriate personal protective equipment. Willing to work any shift to include weekends, holidays and overtime. Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Security Clearance. AST is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
