Wiss & Company, LLP is seeking a Sales Tax Manager or Senior Manager to join our State and Local Tax (SALT) Practice. This is an exciting opportunity for career growth and development offering a great company culture within public accounting. As part of this role, you will have the opportunity to focus primarily on U.S. indirect maters, including Sales and Use Tax.

Core Responsibilities:

Manage all phases of Sales and Use Tax Services, including consulting, controversy, planning, and compliance, ensuring quality, accuracy, and on-time completion.

Lead day-to-day on various sales tax projects, including nexus studies, taxability analysis, refund reviews, voluntary disclosures (VDAs), and other SALT projects.

Review sales tax returns including performing reconciliations.

Oversee outsourced sales tax compliance services (i.e. managed service) as well as assist clients with implementation of 3rd party technology solutions.

Advise clients on an array of issues, including multistate tax planning, structuring, due diligence, exposure mitigation, and audit defense.

Research, draft, and review memorandums, matrices, and other client deliverables.

Manage state tax audits / examinations, strategizing responses and evaluating potential audit risks.

Support the growth of the SALT practice by monitoring sales and use tax developments, assist with thought leadership (e.g. article writing, webinars, speaking engagements, etc.), and team up to identify new opportunities.

Collaborate with internal engagement teams to execute on client deliverables.

Utilize technologies and tools in deliverables and participate in technology development initiatives.

Exposure to other state and local issues; including, property taxes, unclaimed property, employment taxes, and/or credits and incentives.

Qualifications/Education:

Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting or a related field of study.

CPA, Enrolled Agent, JD/LLM, or other credential is preferred.

Minimum of 5 years of experience in sales and use tax.

Strong teamwork and analytical skills and attention to detail.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Strong technology skills, including Microsoft Excel.

Ability to work independently or as part of a collaborative team.

Willingness to travel to client locations when needed.
