Help Duties Conduct safety investigations of minor/ moderate accidents and incidents. Assist in conducting risk assessments to formulate corrective and/or preventative actions. Analyze accident investigation reports involving operations and facilities to identify potential problems and/or trends. Assist in performing safety awareness training. Promote safety programs through presentations, briefings and displays. Assist brigade safety specialist in forming recommendations for hazard abatement. Maintain records and data of the Battalion Safety Program. Maintain a Hazard Log to track items through the abatement process to close. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work of the position, such as: safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene, occupational medicine, toxicology, public health, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biological sciences, engineering, and industrial psychology. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12.
