POSITION SUMMARY:

Our Nestlé Development Center (NDC) in St. Joseph, MO is home to dogs and cats who help us learn and better understand the well-being of pets and promote the human animal bond. When you join us, you'll work to ensure our pets have the best quality of care while participating in cutting edge pet food research. Research that contributes to innovative, first to market dietary solutions as well as trusted all life stage pet food. Our center is located near the metropolitan area of Kansas City, within 30 minutes of the Kansas City International airport. St. Joseph is a tight-knit, rural community packed with character, still within commuting distance to the city thus, providing many residential opportunities.

As the Safety Manager for the site, you'll provide leadership guidance for the planning, implementation, and operation of the organization's Safety Management System (SMS). You will be responsible for supporting the evolution of the safety culture, empowering employees, and reducing work related injuries and illnesses for the Nestlé Development Center site and its functions.

Develop and implement Safety and Health programs, systems, and processes, including training and coaching to establish clear expectations and procedures
Maintain the OSHA 300 Log and internal reporting as required by NPPC Safety Management System (SMS) in accordance with the certification requirements of ISO 45001
Lead implementation and utilization of risk assessment and risk prediction processes to ensure effective identification, communication, and mitigation of workplace hazards
Ensure investigation of all work-related incidents utilizing Nestlé Continuous Excellence (NCE) problem solving tools to identify root causes and develop actions to prevent recurrence
Organize, coordinate, and conduct training for Safety Committee on safety topics, and current safety programs across the site
Support associates with safety-related inquires, including Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), Worker's Compensation and ensure the process for managing injury cases is implemented properly and understood by everyone
Manage budget process and ensure safety expenditures are aligned with budget
Lead and develop the Site Safety Coordinator, ensuring alignment of goals with site plans, partnering on employee development plans, and providing regular coaching and feedback

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health, or a related field
5+ years of experience in a professional Safety & Health role within an industrial, military, manufacturing, government, research and development or related environment

Other

2+ years of experience in a supervisory or leadership role is preferred
2+ years of experience working in a research and development environment is preferred
Professional certifications related to the Safety Health and Environmental field are preferred

The approximate pay range for this position is $78,000.00 to $129,000.00. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to background, knowledge, skills, and abilities as well as geographic location of the position.
