We are a utility and transportation contractor hiring a dedicated and experienced Safety Manager to join our team. As a Safety Manager, you will be responsible for developing and implementing safety programs, conducting site inspections, and ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal safety laws and regulations. You will play a pivotal role in maintaining a safe and healthy work environment for all employees. This position requires a hands-on approach, excellent communication skills, and a keen understanding of safety protocols in a construction setting.

Occasional overnight travel and weekend hours are required.

Job Details

Responsibilities:
1. Develop and implement safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules and regulations.
2. Plan and implement training for employees in work site safety practices, fire prevention, and correct handling of safety equipment.
3. Conduct safety inspections and audits at construction sites to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
4. Investigate accidents, near-miss incidents, and occupational injuries to determine causes, install preventive measures, and manage return-to-work activities.
5. Provide technical advice, coaching, guidance, and mentoring to employees on safety initiatives and necessary changes.
6. Coordinate and present safety training to support client requirements including new employee orientation, safety training, and refresher training.
7. Conduct safety meetings, audits, and inspections to ensure compliance, evaluate performance, identify corrective action, and implement follow-up assessments.
8. Maintain and update emergency response plans and procedures.
9. Recommend process and product safety features that will reduce employee exposure to chemical, physical, and biological work hazards.

Qualifications:
1. Minimum of 5 years of experience in a Safety Manager role within the construction industry.
2. Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) certification is preferred.
3. Proficient knowledge of regulations, procedures, and best practices in construction safety.
4. Demonstrated experience with accident investigations, site inspections, and safety equipment.
5. Proven experience in conducting safety training for employees.
6. Familiarity with conducting data analysis and reporting statistics.
7. Proficient in First Aid and CPR.
8. Excellent communication skills with the ability to present and explain health and safety topics.
9. Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify potential hazards and risks.
10. Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to influence and drive a safety culture.
