Position Title: Safety Department Technician

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Reports To: Director of Facilities

POSITION SUMMARY:

Support the implementation of REHAB's safety and security management programs. Assists in various roles that support the overall safety and security for staff, patients, vendors, visitors, and REHAB property.

Starting Wage: $14.00/hr.

The posted wage is the current starting wage for this position. Actual wage is dependent on the applicant's relevant experience and qualifications for this position. The wage range for this position may be subject to change in the future depending on a variety of factors such as market conditions, business needs, legal developments, and other appropriate factors.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education:
  • High school graduate or equivalent

Skills/Experience:
  • Strong situational awareness and problem solving capability
  • Willingness to learn and develop
  • History of honesty, truthfulness, financial integrity and fair dealing
  • Demonstrated customer service skills
  • Demonstrated general computer knowledge
  • Demonstrated effective written communication skills
  • Verbal communication skills via telephone and in-person required
  • Knowledge and ability to perform minor equipment maintenance
  • Ability to operate most types of vehicles
  • Ability to work in a team, under stressful situations and emergencies

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Certification/Licensure:
  • Current BLS Certification
  • Valid State of Hawaii driver's license

Education:
  • One (1) semester of college

Skills/Experience:
  • Experience in a hospital or health related setting, dealing with direct public contact.
  • Familiarity with hospital terminology (e.g. CODE 500, RACE).
  • One (1) year work experience in customer service

EQUIPMENT, TOOLS, WORK AIDS USED

Use of NEC Console, Public Address System, computer, copy machine, records/forms and reports, hospital and in-house directory. The use of a mobile radio and the ability to effectively converse and communicate. The use of a digital pager. Flashlight, watch, pager, pen and notebook. Maintenance tools. Two-way mobile radio. Vehicles. Computers, typewriter, communication focus console, public address system.
