Duties Ensure compliance of assigned safety goals and program requirements in close cooperation with Garrison supervisors. Plan, organize, implement and monitor the activities of assigned operational safety programs in support of organizational safety programs for organizational elements and tenant activities. Perform inspections of base facilities, warehouses, and equipment maintenance operations. Plan, organize, and coordinate the Respiratory Protection Program Conduct safety training classes to ensure that personnel are aware of hazards and accident prevention. Survey the techniques and methods used in the transportation and storage of munitions such as general purpose and laser guided bombs, guided missiles, mines, small arms ammunition, and pyrotechnics. Requirements Conditions of Employment Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. This position requires the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid State driver's license in one of the 50 US states or possessions. This position requires the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid U.S. Government Driver's License. This position requires a security clearance at the Secret level. This position requires a physical examination. This position requires the use of personal protective clothing and equipment. This position is subject to random drug testing. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience in or related to safety and occupational health that provided the specific knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, which includes developing and implementing safety programs to reduce accidents and occupational illnesses, and evaluating new and existing jobs to determine the existence or probability of hazards. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
