Job Description: Rural Health Clinic Physician

Delivers appropriate care in a n outpatient primary care setting to patients and families in the clinic, hospital, and nursing home following established standards and practices. Provides consultation and collaboration to Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants employed by the hospital.

Essential Accountabilities:

Evaluate physical/psychosocial health status through performing comprehensive health history and physical examinations.

Ordering, performing, interpreting, and evaluating diagnostic tests.

Plan, implement, and evaluate care.

Refer patients appropriately to consulting physicians and services, providing relevant records. Respond to consultation with continued evaluation and management of the patient as appropriate.

Manage the medical plan of care prescribed for the patient within accepted standards of care.

Initiate and maintain accurate records in a timely fashion.

Develop individualized teaching plans with the patient based on health needs.

Counsel individuals, families, and groups about health, illness, and promotion of health maintenance.

Assist in training new clinic staff.

Attend and participate in McPherson Medical and Surgical Associates staff meetings including but not limited to physician meetings, staff meetings, and bi-annual RHC review.

Treat patients and coworkers with respect and courtesy.

Provide input to the Clinic Director regarding performance evaluations of nursing staff.

Complete mandatory annual online education.

Maintain current certifications for BLS (ACLS, ATLS, PALS as it pertains to each department's requirements).

Provides feedback to the medical director and clinic director prior to the implementation of RHC policies and procedures and assists in the ongoing evaluation of current policies and procedures within the RHC.

Assists in internal quality control audits.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Maintain patient and system confidentiality.

Performs all duties and services in full compliance with McPherson Hospital, McPherson Medical and Surgical Associates, and RHC standards/policies.

Qualifications

Education/Licensure/Certifications:
  • Graduate of an accredited medical school and successful completion of an accredited residency.
  • MD or DO
  • BLS Certification and Advanced Life Support if relevant to practice area (ACLS, ATLS, PALS, NRP).

  • Good communication skills
  • Good organizational and time management skills
