Annual Pay $80,000 - $96,000

POSITION SUMMARY
The Roll Off Supervisor is responsible for onboarding, developing, coaching, mentoring, and performance management of all drivers. Establish and maintain positive relationships with all frontline employees. Spends much of the day in the field with frontline employees to ensure compliance of the company policies and safety procedures by ensuring the activities of all drivers safety and efficiency while providing excellent service to all customers.

Coaching/Developing:
  • Provide timely and consistent touchpoints with frontline employees.
  • Regular review of best practices to enhance daily performance.
  • Focus on understanding and progress of employee safety and productivity goals.
  • Identify and address improvement opportunities to ensure continued success.
  • Actively practice and document coaching conversations.
  • Will perform ride-along with drivers periodically to confirm job site/location hazards and/or safety concerns and properly update Soft-Pak account information with details & photos. Resolves logistical and equipment challenges voiced by drivers to develop and implement a solution with proven driver input and suggestions.

Efficiency:
  • Weekly review of Roll Off productivity report to establish productivity goals, ensure adherence to operating standards; and optimize labor utilization, manage hours, and overtime expenses per agreed plans and goals.
  • Daily meeting with Dispatch to discuss and review driver staffing and productivity to meet and exceed productivity goals and expectations for all routes/drivers.
  • Weekly analysis of all routes and drivers to increase workload capacity & maximize driver utilization. During the peak season, strive to maximize workload & staffing to prevent 12-hour work days. Low season, reduce hours to the extent possible with techniques such as offering time off and cross-training in other lines of business such as Recycle Yard support (Walking Floor).
  • Execute all operational plans to help achieve or exceed the department's goals.
  • Ensure the Roll Off fleet is always ready to go. Coordinate the out-of-service with Shop to ensure the fleet is available for drivers.
  • Operational support may include driving company vehicles in other departments to complete the day's work if necessary, including, but not limited to Roll-Off, Walking Floor, and delivery trucks of waste receptacles.

Performance Management:
  • Conducts root cause and detailed investigations for all injuries and incidents, ensuring consistent discipline and retraining. Post-incident ride-along and detailed summary of the discussion.
  • Daily review and audits of documentation related to route operations (e.g., Logs, VCR's, driver times, attendance, open or incomplete paperwork submission, and disposal tickets), following up where appropriate to validate productivity goals and full optimization each day of the week.
  • Visit and resolve customer issues, perform customer on-site checks to resolve safety issues and service issues, offering alternatives agreeable to both the customer and MarBorg Industries.
  • Lead by example to ensure safety practices, policies and code of conduct remain paramount with each employee.
  • Teaching and developing an understanding of safe truck operation, procedures, and policies.
  • Coaching to ensure proper and safe use of company phones & tablets.

  • Build and develop talent on the team, understand employees' career goals and provide coaching to get employees ready for advancement with the Company.
  • Create a collaborative, communicative team environment and drive employee engagement with the Company.
  • Perform other job-related duties as needed or assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Oversees the activities of the Roll Off Drivers, Lead Dispatcher, and Dispatcher. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with MarBorg's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, observing & auditing routes and directing work; performance assessment; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Be an influential leader with a positive can-do attitude.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Minimum two years in a prior leadership or supervisory experience. Strong knowledge of the waste management industry is a plus.
  • Leadership- Ability to be approachable and facilitate coaching conversations with employees and managers.

EDUCATION

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and two to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
