Title Robert Holden Vice Chair of Research Specific Title Associate/Full Professor of Radiology & Imaging Sciences Appointment Type Tenure Track Faculty Department IUSM - Radiology & Imaging Sciences Campus IU School of Medicine Indianapolis Position Summary The Department of Radiology and Imaging Sciences at Indiana University seeks an accomplished scientific leader in the radiological sciences to serve as the Robert Holden Vice Chair of Research. The department has a diverse research portfolio that spans the spectrum from basic science to innovative patient care. In addition, the Indiana Institute for Biomedical Imaging Sciences (IIBIS) was created within the department to serve as an Indiana statewide resource to promote and facilitate imaging research across academia, health care partners, and the biomedical sciences industry. The department houses substantial dedicated research imaging resources, including research magnets, PET/CT, cyclotron/radiochemistry facilities, and UHF animal PET/MR, as well as access to the extensive imaging resources of our hospital partners for research studies, such as PET/MR, high-intensity focused ultrasound, and MEG. Since its inception, the cumulative funding of projects associated with IIBIS has been $775M with average funding growth rates of 16% per year over the past 10 years. Department of Radiology and Imaging Sciences investigators currently have a federal funding portfolio of $22M/year with an average funding growth rate of 22% per year over the past 10 years. We seek a visionary leader who can build and lead research investigator teams that will transform our existing research infrastructure to meet current and future critical health care needs through innovation and translation into clinical practice. The commitment of resources and administrative support through the Department of Radiology and Imaging Sciences and the Indiana University School of Medicine will be commensurate with the programmatic vision of the selected candidate. Risacher, PhD Department of Radiology & Imaging Sciences Basic Qualifications Qualifications: The successful candidate will have an established track record (publications and extramural research support) in clinical and/or translational research in the radiological imaging sciences. Experience should include evidence of building multi-disciplinary collaborations and teams, a sustained record of successful federally funded grant support, publications in high-impact journals, and mentorship. Candidates will have a Doctorate or Terminal degree (MD, DO, and/or PhD), should be a board-certified if applicable, and have a background that includes the application of imaging technologies for disease detection, therapeutic response assessment, image guided therapy, and/or precision medicine.
