Responsibilities What you'll be challenged to do: TranSystems is seeking a Roadway Project Manager responsible for the design and preparation of plan submittals related to highway and arterial roadway design, complex intersection design, local roadways, site design, bridge replacement/rehabilitation, traffic design, drainage design for DOTs and other various agencies. This is a technical position with management and business related opportunities. General Duties & Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Perform engineering and project management tasks related to the planning and design of transportation facilities such as freeways, arterials, intersections, and drainage. Lead a Design Team that produces plans, specifications, cost estimates and schedules for transportation construction projects. Duties include project management, scheduling, budgeting, QA/QC tasks, preparing engineering reports, performing engineering calculations and analysis and furnishing technical documentation for design projects. Works tasks generally pertain to planning and design functions for highways, arterials, traffic, drainage and site design. Attendance at meetings and interaction with clients should be expected. Effective written and oral communication skills are imperative. Lead the design team in completion of technical efforts of design projects including roadway, traffic, drainage and site design projects and reports. Lead the project management of projects both technically and financially to meet the client expectations in completing quality projects on-time and on budget. Answer any questions and review shop drawings during the construction phase of the project. Participate in business development activities. Qualifications What you bring to our firm: Bachelor's degree in engineering with a Florida PE license (or licensed in another state with ability to obtain within 6 months). Registration as a licensed Professional Engineer. Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Office, and various engineering software systems depending on engineering discipline; MicroStation/GeoPak; Open Roads Designer Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or Boards of Directors. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Demonstrates creativity, foresight and mature engineering judgment in anticipating and solving unprecedented engineering problems. Actively engages multiple perspectives when solving problems, seeks to learn from peers, and encourages reciprocal learning among team members. What we'd prefer for you to bring to our firm: The preferred candidate has 8 to15 years of FDOT design experience and Advanced MOT certification. Masters Degree in engineering field (Civil, Structural) Core Competencies: Analytical - Applies knowledge of engineering principals and practices in area of assignments and related fields; Requires the use of advanced techniques and practices of the engineering field and related sciences and disciplines. Problem Solving - Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Uses computer to solve engineering problems and improve the project team's design process. Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; Gathers and analyzes information skillfully; Works well in group problem solving situations. Client Service - Responds promptly to client needs; Responds to requests for service and assistance; Meets commitments; Maintains confidentiality. Communication - Listens and gets clarification; Participates in meetings; Writes clearly and informatively; Able to read and interpret written information. Teamwork - Balances team and individual responsibilities; gives and welcomes feedback; contributes to building a positive team spirit. Leadership - Management skills are being developed. Adaptability - Manages competing demands; Able to deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events. Planning/Organizing - Prioritizes and plans work activities; Sets goals and objectives; Maintains neat and organized work area that allows efficient access to project information as required by other team members; Ability to create and maintain project records. Quality - Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness; Applies feedback to improve performance; Monitors own work to ensure quality.
