RN - Surgery

RN - Surgery - PT Summary: RN will administer IV drugs and catheters, give medications and consult with physicians about progress of patients. In some cases RNs also supervise LPNs and CNAs who provide more routine care such as monitoring vital signs, changing dressings and assisting patients with personal care. Reports to: Surgery Manager Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Complete comprehensive nursing assessment on each patient under care and document appropriately. Administer medications or delegate medication administration to LPN Advocate for patients and participate in evaluation of patient response. Perform or delegate nursing interventions and provide for a safe and effective nursing care Report or update next shift or manager on patient care issues or problems to correct or monitor. Perform patient registration activities after patient access personnel leave. Perform other duties as delegated within the scope of licensure Successfully gain competency in entering and retrieving data by means of electronic medical system. Minimum Qualifications: Education: Graduate of accredited or approved program of nursing and have a current Illinois license. Possess IV certification. Must have BLS, ACLS and PALS. Experience: Surgical Pre-Op, PACU and Post Op 1 year required. 1 year surgical experience preferred. Shift: Monday - Friday (days worked will vary) 6:30 am to 3:00 pm MMH is an equal opportunity employer
