Position Summary:

The RN Designee position requires an understanding and commitment to the mission and core values of Charter Senior Living by exhibiting professional and ethical work practices. RN Designee is to act in the absence of the SALSA (Supervisor of Assisted Living) and shall be available to provide support for the SALSA as needed. Along with the Director of Nursing / SALSA, this position is responsible for the oversight and management of staff and residents with the primary focus of coordinating the healthcare needs of Charter Senior Living residents in accordance with State regulations and standards. The RN Nurse Designee assures the quality of care for residents in conjunction with the Director of Nursing / SALSA, Executive Director and other department managers.

Essential Duties:

  • Supervising nursing personnel in the delivery of nursing services and activities of daily living.

  • Ensuring the evaluation of the clinical competence of assigned nursing personnel and assisted living aides.

  • Participates and develops objectives, standards of care, policies and procedures of nursing services.

  • Responsible for the scheduling of assignments of duties for nursing staff

  • Along with the Director of Nursing is responsible for Quality Assurance management.

  • Promotes staff development, appreciation and empowerment.

  • Responsible for rotating RN on-call.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions

  • Ability to lift/carry up to 50 pounds. 80 pounds of pressure may be placed on the associate through transfers using transfer belts or mechanical assists.

  • Must be able to stand, walk, stoop and/or bend for periods of up to eight hours with breaks as provided for in the employee handbook.

  • Possible exposure to communicable diseases, infectious diseases, and bloodborne pathogens.

Other Requirements:

  • Has familiarity and willingness to work with the elderly population.

  • Demonstrates ability to appropriately delegate responsibility with necessary authority without relinquishing his/her overall responsibility and accountability for the delegated task.

  • Demonstrated ability to identify problems in a timely manner, develop effective resolutions to those problems and ensure implementation of the proposed resolution, confirm results, and revise as necessary.
