Description
For designated shift, facilitates optimal utilization of nursing staff. Provides administrative/clinical supervision and consultation; serves as resource in emergency situations; promotes problem-solving approach for the purpose of conflict resolution; collaborates with the Nursing Directors.

Principal duties and responsibilities to include the following:
  • Supervises nursing staff (RN and MHS staff) in their day-to-day duties on behalf of Nursing Leadership
Provides support during medical and psychiatric emergencies and assists with debrief activities
  • Coordinates and facilitates night shift admissions or transfers to emergency departments, following Admissions department processes; serves as a resource to inpatient staff
  • Performs administrative duties, including assisting with staffing (e.g. unplanned absences and schedule issues) for the next shift or for the following day.
  • Completes documentation for necessary forms
  • Triages and expedites issues of concern to the Administrator on Call
  • Provides an on-site clinical leadership presence for troubleshooting issues that may arise
  • Collaborates with patients and nursing staff to ensure quality of care
  • Communicates information to relevant departments, including Intake
  • Provides nursing staff with clinical instruction or guidance, when required
  • Assists with orientation of new night staff
  • Ensures policies and procedures for patient care are in compliance
  • Maintains standards required by regulatory and accrediting bodies
  • Facilitates resolution of questions and issues relating to departmental operations
  • Provides on-site supervision, in the absence of the Nursing Director or Manager
  • Interfaces collaboratively with adjunct services and departments.
  • Communicates in a timely manner to relevant personnel on other shifts
  • Procures supplies, equipment or medications, as needed
  • Assists with rapid covid testing, as needed
  • Performs other duties as assigned


Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing; master's degree in psychiatric nursing or BSN degree

Licensure:

Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
Skills/Experience:

MSN - 18 months experience in psychiatric inpatient setting
BSN - 3 years experience in a psychiatric setting.
