Job Title: RN Supervisor - House Cost Center: BDHos-Nursing Administration Scheduled Weekly Hours: 36 Employee Type: Regular Work Shift: 12-hour night shifts, variable days (United States of America) Job Description: May be eligible for a sign-on bonus JOB SUMMARY The RN Supervisor - House Works under the direction of the department managers to coordinate the twenty-four hour delivery of optimal patient care to meet the requirements of accrediting and regulatory agencies. This individual will coordinate patient services between various areas of the hospital and adjust nursing staffing levels based on identified patient needs. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS 1. Collaborates with managers to organize activities to provide support delivery for direct and indirect patient care within the hospital. 2. Trouble-shoots problems in routine and emergency situation to ensure issues are resolved in a timely manner. 3. Collaborates with managers, staff, and physicians to ensure clinical quality and service excellence is provided to patients and families. 4. Facilitates patient flow including admissions, transfers, and discharges to ensure patients' needs are met in a timely manner. 5. Delegate's responsibilities when unable to perform to ensure assigned task are completed accurately and in a timely manner. 6. Maintains a high level understanding of all clinical departments to ensure policies, procedures, and protocols are being met. 7. Facilitates the professional development of staff to ensure the delivery of optimal patient care. 8. Participates on ongoing education and training to provide evidence of continue self-development and serve as a role model for other employees. 9. Provides recognition of staff to ensure a high level of motivation and staff engagement. 10. Utilizes Performance Improvement principles to evaluate unit(s) processes including participating in committees or Lean projects as assigned and embracing Lean tools and methodology. 11. Develops collaborative relationships with patients/families, departments, and physicians to ensure needs are being met. 12. Reports and documents patient or visitor safety concerns, issues or untoward event to appropriate leadership and personnel to ensure issues are resolved in a timely manner. 13. Demonstrates the ability to manage conflict to ensure issues are resolved directly and promptly. 14. Demonstrates strong leadership skills by practicing effective open communication to ensure good inter- and intra- departmental relations 15. Serves as a clinical resource and mentor for staff to maintain a highly effective, knowledgeable team. 16. Regular attendance is required in order to carry out the essential functions of the position. 17. Reviews and meets ongoing competency requirements of the role to maintain the skills, knowledge and abilities to perform, within scope, role specific functions. ADDITIONAL DUTIES 1. Other duties as assigned. JOB QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION For positions requiring education beyond a high school diploma or equivalent, educational qualifications must be from an institution whose accreditation is recognized by the Council for Higher Education and Accreditation. Minimum Required: Diploma or degree in nursing. Preferred/Optional: Bachelor's degree in nursing. EXPERIENCE Minimum Required: Three years' experience in medical or nursing related field. Demonstrated leadership abilities. Written and verbal communication skills. Preferred/Optional: Management or supervisor experience. CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES The following licensure(s), certification(s), registration(s), etc., are required for this position. Licenses with restrictions are subject to review to determine if restrictions are substantially related to the position. Minimum Required: Current State of Wisconsin Registered Nurse License or Nurse Compact License. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) within one month of employment. Additional department-specific certifications, licenses, or memberships may be required (varies by department/location). Preferred/Optional: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) at time of hire. Infant Care Units: Neonatal Resuscitation Program certification.
