From chest pains, stroke and stomach pains, vomiting, ear infections, and fractured bones, ER nurses see it all. ER nurses learn toquickly triage patients based on immediate observation and acute assessmentskills, then to treat symptoms in order of life-threatening priority. About this unit:

Responsibilities:

•   Under the generaldirection of the Director or Manager, the RN coordinates and provides patientcare and assumes individual responsibility and accountability for the provisionof nursing care.
•   Nursing care is providedin accordance with hospital policies and procedures, applicable state NursingPractice Acts, ANA Standards of Practice, ENA Standards of Practice, and thegeneric and unit structure standards.
•   The Registered Nurse inthis department provides care for birth to pediatric, pediatric/child patientsbetween 1 to 11 years of age; adolescent patients between 12 to 17 years ofage; adult patients between 18 to 64 years; and geriatric patie
