ER nurses learn toquickly triage patients based on immediate observation and acute assessmentskills, then to treat symptoms in order of life-threatening priority. About this unit:

Responsibilities:

•   Under the generaldirection of the Director or Manager, the RN coordinates and provides patientcare and assumes individual responsibility and accountability for the provisionof nursing care.
•   Nursing care is providedin accordance with hospital policies and procedures, applicable state NursingPractice Acts, ANA Standards of Practice, ENA Standards of Practice, and thegeneric and unit structure standards.
•   The Registered Nurse inthis department provides care for birth to pediatric, pediatric/child patientsbetween 1 to 11 years of age; adolescent patients between 12 to 17 years ofage; adult patients between 18 to 64 years; and geriatric patie
