Weekly Pay with Benefit Options

Shifts Available w /rotating schedule and Overtime offered:
  • 6:00 am - 2:00 pm,
  • 2:00 pm - 10:00 pm
6-month Minimum Contract Assignment with Option to Extend

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Performs moderate to complex patient service work. This includes routine and emergency care, treatment, and training for people with intellectual disabilities in a residential setting.
  • Performs health assessments campus-wide.
  • Responds to medical emergencies on campus.
  • Communicates health status/needs to other disciplines, families as needed.
  • Provides personnel management to subordinate sic nursing staff.
  • Delegates work assignments.
  • Evaluates employees performance
  • Complies with all State/Federal/Local standards.
  • Demonstrates thorough knowledge of the nursing process and nursing procedures.
  • Actively participates in meetings related to care of persons served in order to manage and coordinate health care to achieve optimal health.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of medications administered in order to identify desired effects or adverse reactions.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of safety and infection control practices to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Provide treatment to in-house employees injured in course and scope of employment.


LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, OR REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED:
  • Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Texas (or a state that recognizes reciprocity through the Nurse Licensure Compact)
  • Current CPR certification
  • Valid Photo ID

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of nursing procedures and practices and of the Texas Nursing Practice Act, Rules and Regulations of the Board of Nurse Examiners for the State of Texas.
  • Ability to identify nursing interventions appropriate to the population served.
  • Ability to manage and take a leadership role in managing emergencies.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with other staff members to provide effective clinical supervision or to relay concerns about the patient to other team members.
  • Ability to teach others the principles of psychiatric nursing and maintenance of the therapeutic milieu.
  • Experience with direct patient care in a residential setting
