Summary :


Under the general supervision of the units director or designee the CNC assumes responsibility for direction and coordination of all functions in the unit on his/her designated shifts. In collaboration with other members of the management team, this individual is responsible for the ongoing assessment of the quality of patient care services provided in the unit or department.


Responsibilities:



  1. Is a clinicalRegistered Nurse who can assume care for the patient population on the assignedunit.

  2. Assumesresponsibility for direction and coordination of all functions during thedesignated shift.

  3. Functions as aresource person for staff member and assists in necessary education ofindividual members of the nursing staff.

  4. Assumesresponsibility for the overall quality of nursing care provided when s/he is onduty

  5. Makes decisionsregarding activities with these areas based on Administrative OperationalStandards, Nursing Administrative Standards, Human Resource Standards, andStandards of Care for the unit, in collaboration with other members of themanagement team.

  6. Collaborates withthe multidisciplinary team to coordinate, evaluate, customize, and deliver highquality, patient-, family- and person-centered care.

  7. Operationalizesevidenced-based practices to enhance patent safety and quality outcomes.

  8. Represents theorganization positively within the community, and participates incompany-supported and other healthcare related community/patient events and in-services.

  9. Will assumeleadership responsibility for the management of the unit in support of themanager/director, including direct supervision of a portion of theunit/department staff, payroll editing, performance reviews, coaching anddeveloping staff, performance management, recognition, and other duties asassigned. Each CNC on the unit will have designated responsibilities, that mayrotate, within one or more of the following core areas:

    1. Quality, Safety,and Regulatory Preparedness

    2. PatientExperience

    3. EmployeeEngagement, Physician Satisfaction, and Culture

    4. FiscalResponsibility including scheduling, overtime review, and supply management

    5. Staff Developmentincluding education and competency; New Graduate (resident) and Preceptor support




Medical City North Hills is an award-winning 164-bed acute care hospital located inthe heart of northeast Tarrant County in North Richland Hills. The hospital hasover 300 physicians and 30 medical specialties. The ER has about 39,000 visitseach year and is a Level III Trauma Center. Additionally, we are a PrimaryStroke Center, perform spine surgery and joint replacements and have acomprehensive cardiovascular services department. Our hospital is an accreditedCycle 5 Chest Pain Center with a cardiac rehabilitation program.
