Primary Care Practice Participates in direct patient care and other supportive activities under the direct delegation of the providers. Maintains and applies principles of safety. Recognizes when and how to escalate patient concerns up the chain of command. Works in cooperation with other health team members. Employee Health-Provides care to all employees within the Health System with immunizations, vaccinations and Worker's Compensation. Maintains all data related to Employee Health records, CMS reporting, NHSN reporting, Needlestick protocol and all other reporting as required. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: PRIMARY CARE: Performs functions such as monitoring vital signs, dressing wounds, administering basic procedures and other basic care options. Performs IV therapy as needed. Utilizes knowledge of patient's age and cultural diversity into the provision of patient care. Observes the patients' physical, mental, and emotional conditions and reports any changes to the provider. Contributes to the provision of quality nursing care through techniques that support and achieve positive outcomes. Abides by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability privacy and security regulations regarding all aspects of Protected Health Information (PHI). Interviews patient to determine medical problem/condition and documents in chart for physician. Obtains and records patient's vital signs and weight. Assists physician with patient examination as needed. Reviews physician's orders, lab requests, or follow-up needs with patient. Documents services performed on appropriate forms. Dresses wounds as instructed. Applies compresses, ice and heat packs. Observes patients and reports adverse reactions to medication or treatment to medical personnel in charge. Administers specified medication, orally or by subcutaneous or intermuscular injection, and notes time and amount on patients' charts. Assembles and uses clinic equipment. Collects samples, such as urine, blood, and sputum, from patients for testing and performs routine laboratory tests on samples. Sterilizes equipment and supplies. Cleans rooms and changes linens. Maintains supplies, including stocking and ordering new supplies and disposing of expired or damaged supplies. Responds to patient or client telephone inquiries by evaluating and responding to the patient's/clients problems and questions. Follows up with patients who miss appointments. Follows up with patients on lab results, including the scheduling of any additional tests. Coordinates referrals for patients through insurance and other physician offices. Performs prior authorizations with insurance companies as required for referrals, procedures or other required items EMPLOYEE HEALTH: Maintains employee health files within Athena EMR on all current staff members and non-employees to ensure compliance with relevant regulations. Manages the TB screening program and assures that appropriate documentation of testing is placed in the employees' health file. Manages all reporting that is required to ensure all staff, volunteers and contract employees have complied with policies. Ensures that all staff members and non-employees are current with COVID vaccinations and boosters or ensure that Religious/Medical Exemptions are on file. Assists with computer input and documentation as needed within Athena. Manages annual flu shot clinics, ensuring that all the annual Employee Health questionnaires are completed and all records are in order. Manages all reporting of the annual flu shots of employees for compliance. Abides by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability privacy and security regulations regarding all aspects of Protected Health Information (PHI). Serves a population young adult through geriatric. MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED: Knowledge of nursing functions in a clinic environment Intermediate computer skills in Google docs as well as Microsoft Office Word and Excel Demonstrates ability to communicate effectively.
