Job Description

SCOPE OF POSITION
The Nursing Quality Coordinator is a member of the JCMC nursing team and functions to provide successful implementation and seamless integration of identified best practices and quality outcomes throughout the facility under the direction of the Nursing Practice and Quality Coordinator (NP/QC). He/she is also part of the team striving to maintain Magnet recognition and nursing excellence. He/she practices evidence based nursing within the parameters of his/her training and is responsible for education and execution of protocols reflective of such. The Nursing Quality Coordinator will facilitate roll out of stated initiatives of JCMC and will work collaboratively under the direction of the NP/QC with Directors, Clinical Leaders, Case Managers and frontline team members to promote optimal patient outcomes, and achieve and maintain compliance with quality standards. This person will review and analyze data, identify barriers, and implement process changes to assure successful attainment of JCMC strategic goals and Magnet recognition. The Nursing Quality Coordinator will assist with special projects such as magnet as indicated to promote excellence in nursing, and will be knowledgeable and responsible for compliance with all pertinent JCAHO standards, and local, state, and federal regulations.
This individual is self-motivated and serves as a strong team leader, coach and role model. The promotion of nursing knowledge through research in compliance with the Institutional Review Board's rules and regulations and the practice of current treatment modalities are essential. He/she promotes front line staff problem solving and is accountable for maintaining harmonious interactions with internal and external customers. This team member, under the direction of the Nursing Practice and Quality Coordinator, monitors the performance of nursing practice and promotes best practice; thus minimizing cost while maximizing quality. This person will champion quality efforts, implement performance improvement studies when indicated, and assist the Nursing Practice and Quality Coordinator with submission of projects like Magnet. He/she assists in patient care by modeling all aspects of the nursing process and the application of nursing theory and critical thinking skills. This position develops and implements education programs as needed.
The nurse is expected to practice autonomously within the scope of professional standards, the rules and regulations established by the Tennessee Board of Nursing, and knowledge of the policies and procedures within Ballad Health. He/she has a working knowledge of the nursing process and demonstrates skill in developing and guiding collaborative collegial practice that delivers safe competent care. He/she demonstrates sensitivity and understanding of the diverse cultural backgrounds of our patients and caregivers. The position involves maintaining current knowledge of evidence based nursing practice and the ability to demonstrate critical thinking skills in the implementation of all phases of the nursing process. He/she actively participates in continuous quality/performance improvement of patient care through data collection, as well as, interpreting/evaluating the data and planning actions. The RN serves as a professional role model as a caregiver, mentor, teacher and resource for peers and other providers.

EDUCATION EXPERIENCE
This individual must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing and currently licensed (or eligible for licensure) as a Registered Professional Nurse in the appropriate state. BSN essential and Masters preferred. This position requires a minimum of five years of clinical experience as a registered professional nurse. This team member must be able to work a flexible schedule as determined by the needs of the facility. He/she must have proficient computer skills to include current facility systems and software, word processing, spreadsheets, and database management.
