As a Registered Nurse (RN), you willprovide professional nursing care to patients undergoing diagnosticor therapeutic services in the Imaging department. Your primaryduties will include, but are not limitedto:

Assessing patients, completing nursing assessments, and documentingand communicatingfindings.

Establishing careplans and coordinating ongoingcare.

Performing nursing procedures andtreatments.

Providing telephone triage and callrotations.

Administeringmedication.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides professionalnursing care to patients undergoing diagnostic or therapeuticservices to hospitalized patients in a variety of healthcaresettings.
  • Assesses patient; completes nursingassessment, documents findings in patient records and notifiesphysician of abnormal findings.
  • Establishes acare plan in collaboration with the patient, family and health careteam.
  • Coordinates ongoing care. Identifiesdischarge needs and facilitates discharge planning asappropriate.
  • Provides telephone triage and callrotations per department needs.
  • Performsnursing procedures and treatments as directed by physician or LIPin the treatment and management of patientcare.
  • Evaluates, initiates and maintainsstandards of care consistent with CCHS policies andprocedures.
  • Assists with specialized patientcare equipment as required by the clinical department and medicalspecialty assigned.
  • Administers medications andtreatments as ordered by a physician orLIP.
  • Directs, coordinates and participates inthe evaluation and supervision of nursing care provided topatients.
  • Establishes patient care prioritiesand delegates nursing activities according to the patient needs andstaff qualifications and capabilities.
  • Servesas charge nurse when assigned to ensure efficient operations andcontinuity of care.
  • Participates in education,research and performance improvement activities. Provides healtheducation to patients and families.
  • Develops,evaluates, adapts and documents education to meet learning needsand abilities of patients and families.
  • Assistsin the preparation of department specific education for patientsand colleagues. Covers other nursing roles in thedepartment.
  • Maintains core competency innursing (CPR, skills labs).
  • Other duties asassigned.

Education:

  • Graduate of an AccreditedSchool of Nursing.
  • BSNpreferred.

Certifications:

  • Currentstate licensure as a Registered Nurse(RN).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) through AmericanHeart Association (AHA) required. In areas performing moderatesedation procedures must have current Advanced Cardiac LifeSupport (ACLS) through American Heart Association (AHA)Certification within 6 months ofhire.
  • If in an ED, Pediatric AdvancedLife Support (PALS) through American Heart Association (AHA) uponhire or within one year of beginning work in the EmergencyDepartment.

  • In areas operating withPeripherally Inserted Central Catheters (PICC Lines), CertifiedRegistered Nurse Infusion (CRNI) or Vascular Access Board Certified(VA-BC) certification is preferred within three years ofhire.

Complexityof Work:

  • Requires criticalthinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work withminimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in astressful environment and take appropriateaction.

WorkExperience:

  • Minimum of oneyear recent RN experience required; two years of recent RNexperience preferred
  • For CardiacCatheterization or other related procedural areas, one year ofcritical care experience in a hospital settingpreferred.
  • Current demonstrated clinicalcompetence.
  • Strong communication andinterpersonalskills.

PhysicalRequirements:

  • Requires fullrange of motion, manual and finger dexterity and eye-handcoordination.
  • Requires standing and walking forextensive periods of time.
  • Requires correctedhearing and vision to normal range.
  • Requiressome exposure to communicable disease or bodilyfluids.
  • Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 poundsof force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently,and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantlyto move objects.
  • Physical Demand requirementsare in excess of those for LightWork.

PersonalProtectiveEquipment:

  • Follows StandardPrecautions using personal protective equipment as required forprocedures.
