Summary:

The RN-ICU is responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care for critically ill patients in the Intensive Care Unit. This role requires a high level of skill, critical thinking, and the ability to respond swiftly to changes in a patient's condition.

Responsibilities:

Patient Assessment: Conduct thorough assessments of patients' medical conditions, including physical, psychological, and emotional aspects. Monitor vital signs, interpret laboratory results, and assess other relevant data to determine the patient's status.
Care Planning: Develop individualized care plans based on the assessment findings and collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure comprehensive and effective patient care.
Prioritize nursing interventions based on the acuity of the patient's condition.
Medical Interventions: Administer medications, fluids, and other treatments as prescribed by physicians.
Operate and monitor advanced medical equipment, such as ventilators, infusion pumps, and cardiac monitors.
Critical Thinking and Decision-Making: Anticipate and respond to changes in patients' conditions promptly.
Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to make critical decisions regarding patient care.
Communication: Provide clear and concise communication to patients, families, and other healthcare team members. Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and other specialists to ensure coordinated and comprehensive care.
Education and Support: Educate patients and families about their medical conditions, treatment plans, and recovery expectations. Offer emotional support and address any concerns or questions from patients and their families.

Documentation:
  • Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of all patient assessments, interventions, and responses to care.
  • Qualifications:
  • Current RN license.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certifications.
  • Previous experience in critical care or ICU nursing preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Working Conditions:
  • Rotating shifts, including nights and weekends.
  • Exposure to high-stress situations and emotionally charged environments.
