Overview The Registered Nurse/Pediatric identifies patient's needs and priorities for care through assessment. The RN/Pediatric plans and delegates care based on patient needs. The RN/Pediatric executes therapeutic physician orders and therapeutic nursing interventions. The RN/Pediatric evaluates the patient's response to care and the attainment of or progress toward expected outcomes. The RN/Pediatric is accountable for outcomes of patient care delivered during the assigned shift. Responsibilities Initiates assessment and reassesses patients based on presenting problems or needs. Formulates and updates a plan of care based on identified patient/family needs. Implements the plan of care for patient and family. Safely administers and controls medications and narcotics; initiates I.V. therapy and maintains same. Evaluates the response of patients/families to the plan of care; communicates this appropriately to medical team. Using the Meditech system, documents the components of the Nursing process in the patient record. Maintains accurate medical records. Assists in orientation of new employees, serves as relief charge, etc; flexible to schedule; performs all other related duties as assigned or requested. Qualifications Education: Current Alabama RN license or a current RN multi-state license Experience: Fundamental clinical experience and/or previous employment clinical experience expected from a licensed Registered Nurse (RN). Pediatric experience preferred. Additional Skills/Abilities CPR certification or eligibility/capability to certify within 90 days. ACLS, PALS and NRP required within one year of employment. Able to work under the following conditions: contact with patients under wide variety of circumstances; exposed to unpleasant elements (accidents, injuries and illness); subject to varying and unpredictable situations; handles emergency or crisis situations; may perform emergency care; occasionally subjected to irregular hours; occasional stress due to multiple calls and inquiries. Capable of working overtime as required. Able to read, write and speak the English language.
