Location BHG Bronson Healthcare Group Title RN Clinical Database Obstetrics Collaborative This position is expected to collect and submit reliable data. This is accomplished through high-quality clinical screening, data compilation, documentation and entry into database. Will work independently on the patient care units and must be able to develop, schedule and prioritize workload to ensure all work is completed. Must be flexible to assist with coverage issues and a team player in consultation with other reviewers. Excellent communication skills are essential since there will be daily interaction with physicians and staff about patient condition and documentation. This individual must be assertive and tactful to obtain medical staff cooperation. Must have current Michigan RN license. Must be currently trained and licensed RN with 3-5 years of acute care experience in women's health or obstetrics. Employees providing direct patient care must demonstrate competencies specific to the population served. Bachelor's degree preferred 3-5 years of acute care experience Must have working knowledge of medical terminology, knowledge of disease processes and related procedures, and current working knowledge of pathology and pharmacology impacts on care. Experience in database entry, statistics, quality improvement, patient safety, reimbursement systems and/or management experience preferred. Current license as a registered nurse in the State of Michigan, with up-to-date clinical skills.

• Must be able to maintain confidentiality through verbal and written communication Work which is constantly and exceptionally tiring mentally and/or visually. Conditions exist more than 90% of the work time. Involves considerable standing or walking, regular lifting of light-weight objects (i.e., 20 pounds or less) and assisting with heavier tasks such as assisting in lifting and moving patients. Minor straining or fatiguing positions must be assumed, and some fatiguing physical motions are required.
• Demonstrates applicability of the methodology and the reliability of definitions utilized by reviewers within the program through Inter-Rater Reliability (IRR) testing as applicable
• Establishes effective working relationships with members of the hospital community
• Contacts patients an/or families via telephone or written communication
• Serves as an educational resource for internal and external audiences by developing educational material and developing presentations
• Participates in weekly teleconferences with other clinical nurse reviewers
• Attends educational programs pertaining to the program as requested Responsible for reviewing weekly site accrual report on website and responding to accrual report alerts
• Responsible for the accurate and timely entry of data into programs database and meets the caseload accrual requirement protocol
• Timely communication with assigned service line physicians as well as multi-disciplinary team for ongoing process and quality improvement projects
• Maintain regular communication with Surgeon/Champion for ongoing process and quality improvement projects
• Works collaboratively with Medical Staff, Nursing Staff and other patient care-givers
• Performs initial case reviews, abstracts data and appropriately follows-up reviews based on judgment of clinical picture
• Performs data validation before uploading data to collaborative site
• Works collaboratively with IT Staff to ensure accurate data collection
• Performs concurrent reviews and abstraction of all identified components of the medical records of inpatient admissions Interprets clinical information in the medical record, evaluating medications, vital signs, surgical outcomes, etc.
• Utilizes software applications for data collection and analysis
• Coordinates with all patient care teams to ensure complete documentation is recorded in the patient's medical record pertinent information to appropriate administrative and medical staff departments
