Help Duties You will handle scheduling of Ocean Terminal crane operations and act on behalf of the department Rigging/Longshoring Supervisor in their absence. You will carry out safe working practices and assure safe and proper operations in all phases of Ocean Terminal Operations. You will oversee the Fleet Logistics Center pearl Habor Weight Handling Equipment inventory, ensuring annual inspections are carried out in accordance with NAVFAC policy. You will fabricate, repair, and install standing and running rigging such as lifting slings, towing bridles, nets, ladders, and other weight-handling gear from wire to fiber rope. You will provide pier support services including brow and platform rigging and placement on berthed ships. Help Requirements Conditions of Employment Must be a US Citizen. This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. Qualifications Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. The Screen-out Element for this position is: I have performed the majority of the following duties under close supervision which includes leading warehouse workers in accomplishing a full range of rigging functions and practices, weight handling techniques, knowledge of breaking strains, safe working loads, and rigging materials to select and install rigging and weight handling gear to lift, move, and position heavy loads; assemble and repair standing and running rigging; plan and select appropriate gear; using standard hand signals to guide crane operators and other riggers; working within a framework practices to determine work sequences and required tools and equipment; using prescribed lifting points and identified center of gravity; operating hoisting trolleys, turret cranes, bridge cranes and/or forklifts.
