Job Description: Description of Department: The Electrical and Computer Engineering Department is a highly dynamic department fully committed to creating a welcoming and inclusive learning environment for our vibrant and diverse population of faculty and students. The department opened in August 2013 and has since experienced a large enrollment growth and demand. It occupies excellent facilities equipped with state-of-the-art equipment in the Shineman Science and Engineering Building with several studio teaching rooms and project laboratories that support flexible, modern and innovative teaching methods throughout the curriculum. Research laboratories such as the Wireless Solutions Laboratory, the Modern Energy Laboratory and the Robotics Laboratory are well equipped and currently support multiple faculty and student research projects. The department also boasts a close relationship with local industry resulting in several industry-sponsored project collaboration opportunities. The fully ABET-accredited program delivers a combined Electrical and Computer Engineering degree that allows students to delve further in areas of emphasis that include robotics, embedded systems, wireless systems, and modern energy systems. The Research Foundation for SUNY and the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at the State University of New York at Oswego invites applications for a Postdoctoral Associate to pursue research in the area of FPGA-Based Real-Time Processing of X-Ray Diffraction Data. While this position is located on the campus of SUNY Oswego, this is not a New York State position. Date of Appointment: June 15, 2023 Description of Responsibilities: The Office of Research and Sponsored Programs (Research Foundation for SUNY) located at the State University of New York at Oswego, invites applications for a Postdoctoral Associate for an Office of Naval Research (ONR) funded project. This project involves the design and deployment of instrumentation enabling large-data-volume and data-informed measurements of X-ray diffraction data. It will be conducted in close collaboration with the Cornell High Energy Light Source at Cornell University where on-site testing will be performed. This position will involve firmware implementation of real-time image processing and compression algorithms as well as high-speed interfacing with existing X-ray detector systems. The candidate will also be expected to mentor undergraduate researchers, contribute to research reports, and disseminate research through publications, presentations, and research meetings. The selected candidate will also carry the title of Visiting Researcher at Cornell University.
