We are seeking a Respiratory Therapist to join our Cardio-Pulmonary department. This position is a casual with no guarantee of hours per week and is eligible for a 13% pay differential in lieu of benefits. We work, live, and play in the scenic Columbia River Gorge, Oregon. Located 85 miles east of Portland in the majestic Columbia River Gorge, The Dalles features old-growth forests, rushing waterfalls, and year-round access to outdoor recreation, including downhill and cross-country skiing, world-class water sports, and miles of hiking and mountain biking trails. The area boasts award-winning wineries, and, most importantly, warm, friendly people. Responsibilities Under general supervision, responsible for assessing patient's requirements for ventilation, oxygenation, and other respiratory therapy modalities. Makes recommendations for method and equipment most appropriate for the patient. Maintains communication between physicians, nursing, and other members of the healthcare delivery team. Provides coverage to other entities as appropriate. Assists with Quality improvement activities as assigned.Provides services that involve the evaluation of cardio pulmonary function, the treatment of cardiopulmonary impairment, the assessment of treatment effectiveness, and the care of patients with deficiencies and abnormalities associated with the cardiopulmonary system. Qualifications Education: Graduate of an accredited program in Respiratory Therapy. Associates Degree required. Licensure/Certification: Successful completion of the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) clinic exam for CRT. BLS Required NRP certification required within one year of hire Experience: Minimum one year clinical experience preferred. Skills/Knowledge/Abilities: Knowledge of specialized care (e.g. bronchoscopy assistance, intubation assistance, ventilator management, arterial blood gas sampling and interpretation, pulmonary function testing, conscious sedation assistance, cardiac stress testing, EEG, Assist with Cardio version, perform all aspects of Respiratory Care to adults, pediatrics and neonates as appropriate. Proper documentation of all therapies required. Specialist knowledge in respiratory care and critical care. Patient Assessment Skills.
