Responsibilities Under general direction of the General Manger, the Respiratory Therapist performs direct patient respiratory care in the home or office to clients served: infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults and geriatrics. The Respiratory Therapist orients and educates patients and families to equipment, therapy, safety, and infection control. The Respiratory Therapist assesses clients and develops a Plan of Care according to the assessment. All care and service is documented in a client clinical record. The Respiratory Therapist also assists in the office and warehouse, and participates in ordering of supplies and equipment. Essential functions: Performs safely and accurately, competencies for neonate, infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients (concentrators, suction equipment, aerosol, nebulizer, CPAP/BIPAP, portable oxygen and oxygen conserving devices) Maintains effective, professional working relationships with Company personnel, Hospice, Home Care, Nursing Home and Hospital personnel in order to ensure continuity of care and foster communications and understanding. Adheres to Safety and Infection Control guidelines. Documents all care and services according to policy and standards. Maintains clinical records on patients and documents in a timely and legible manner Deals effectively with clients and their families, exhibiting patience, understanding and good teaching skills to insure quality of care and patient compliance. Works closely with service technician to provide for setups and equipment flow and with billing/ accounting to communicate changes or other information. Maintains records to track equipment and provide for accurate and timely billing. Forwards them appropriately. Collects data and maintains records for Quality Process and Improvement as requested. Evaluates current Company practices and participates in Quality Process and Improvement activities, suggesting ways to improve. Routinely communicates to physicians about the patients Plan of Care/Treatment and updates on patient's condition. Assists with PI programs. Evaluates company practices as it pertains to Respiratory and makes suggestions to managment to implement change. Qualifications Education and Experience:Associates Degree Accredited Respiratory Therapy Program or Vocational diploma Graduate of a Respiratory Therapy program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP). required Licenses and Certifications:CRT (Certified Respiratory Therapist) by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC), Upon hire, requiredRRT (Registered Respiratory Therapist) by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC), Upon hire, requiredLicensed by the PA State Board of Medicine (or PA State Board of Osteopathic Medicine) as a Respiratory Therapist, Upon hire, required Basic Life Support (BLS), Upon hire, required Benefits:
