Eligible for a $10,000 on bonus Day Hours, no Evenings Nights FTE:.0 (40 per week) Flexible schedule POSITION SUMMARY A respiratory therapist (RT) assesses, interprets, treats, and cares for patients with cardiopulmonary disorders. The RT is responsible for providing diagnostic and therapeutic services as part of the interdisciplinary team and under the direction of our medical staff. RT must interact effectively with patients, families and all other members of the health care team and maintain standards of respiratory therapy care. The respiratory therapist provides direct respiratory therapy care for the Medical/surgical area, Intensive care unit and Emergency Department. This includes a population of newborns, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. Knowledgeable in the use of respiratory care and cardiopulmonary diagnostic equipment including and pediatric ventilators, BIPAP and CPAP, oxygen delivery devices, electrocardiograms, Holter/event monitoring, arterial blood gas interpretation and overnight oximetry. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS Education and Experience Graduate of a two- or four-year Respiratory Care Program (preferably through the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC) or a Bachelor of Science degree in a health-related field with a certificate in Respiratory Care required. Prior clinical or fieldwork experience must provide clear evidence of clinical skills consistent with basic entry-level positions. License/Certificates Must hold certification by the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT). Certified Respiratory Therapist must obtain RRT credentials within one year of hire. Licensure by the Minnesota Board of Medical Practice must be current and active. Must be American Heart Association BLS within 30 days of hire. ACLS, NPR, PALS certified within 6 months of hire. Yearly fit testing for N95 mask is required. ESSENTIAL DUTIES RESPONSIBILITIES Responsible for gathering information and data interpretation, which demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide appropriate care. Competently perform ventilator care in an age-appropriate manner. Perform airway management and patient assisted transport. Perform oxygen therapy to improve or maintain oxygenation when indicated. Perform diagnostic procedures. Perform general respiratory care procedures appropriate to the age of the patient to improve respiratory status as ordered by the provider. Effectively communicates with interdisciplinary team to provide information that contributes to effective patient care and operations. Responsible for following and completing clinical documentation per departmental policy to ensure department efficiency and maximize reimbursement. Responsible for personal development to ensure current knowledge in Respiratory Care. Responsible for personal conduct which maintains adherence to the RHCC Corporate Compliance program, promotes organizational effectiveness and maintains a high-quality work environment. Promote customer service by demonstrating polite, cooperative, and respectful behavior to both internal and external customers. Assume responsibility for completing mandatory educational requirements. Safeguard security and confidentiality of data/information according to HIPAA guidelines.
