As a Residential Treatment Counselor, you are an integral part of the substance abuse treatment team, supporting adults in the early stages of recovery from addiction. Your main task is to promote recovery from addiction and assist clients with their transition back to the larger community.
As the ideal candidate, you are experienced in working with individuals recovering from addiction, have healthy boundaries, are compassionate, fair, and respectful, have integrity and are a team player. You should also have excellent computer skills, good written and oral communication, time management and organizational skills.
Qualifications:
- Must be 21 years of age and have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Two years' experience providing direct service in the field of human services, preferred.
- Must have (or obtain when you start) one of the following:
- Chemical Dependency Technician certification or higher
- Behavioral Health Aid certification
- Peer Support Certification
- Ability to work effectively as part of housing services team, with persons experiencing substance abuse.
- Requires two background checks and pre-employment drug screening.
- Must be able to be insurable by GHS auto insurance with a valid AK Drivers License.
Department of Corrections Requirements:
- Must pass a DOC and DOH background check. Per CRC Standards, these are the minimum qualifications for all employees:
- HS or GED grad
- Valid AK Driver's License (or obtain one within 30 days of moving to Alaska)
- Never had a felony
- Never convicted of Domestic Violence charges
- Never made, sold, or transported drugs
- Never had a misdemeanor resulting in physical injury, 2 or more DUI's, chemical refusal, or misdemeanor crimes of dishonesty in the past 10 years.

Pay: $28.84 - $40.37 per hour DOE
