Responsibilities Mountain Youth Academy (a UHS company) is seeking Residential Counselor(s) for all shifts to join our growing team. Come make a difference in the life of a child and love what you do This role requires a successful background check, fingerprinting and employment verification Mountain Youth Academy is centrally located near Johnson City, TN, Boone, NC, and Abingdon, VA. We are a 90-bed residential treatment facility and assist in the evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of behavioral health issues for our young adolescent students. As a part of our continued success and growth, we are seeking qualified applicants for our Residential Counselor position(s). Salaries start at 18.00 per hour for a High School Diploma and advance with experience and additional levels of education. Shift differential and attendance incentives are also part of the compensation package. POSITION SUMMARY: Functions as a responsible member of the treatment planning team who observes and reports physical and behavioral symptoms under the direction of the Shift Supervisor/ Residential Manager. The Residential Counselor is an active participant in the implementation of physical care and therapeutic activities. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (include, but are not limited to, the following) Serves as a role model to staff and students in dress and demeanor. Exercises appropriate interventions under the direction of the Residential Manager. Performs proper TCI techniques, demonstrating knowledge of student and staff safety. Completes debriefings as indicated. SERVICE STANDARDS/PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENT FUNCTION: Promotes the philosophy, goals and objectives of the facility by becoming familiar with and complying with facility and departmental policies and procedures. Maintains licenses and certifications required for the position. Attends mandatory training annually to maintain competency.
