Role description: As a Resident Engineer, you will utilize your experience and technical knowledge of municipal infrastructure, underground water and sewer facilities and water and wastewater treatment facilities to successfully execute and manage capital improvement programs under the supervision of the Construction Manager or Project Executive and help us build and grow our CM practice. This hire is for a role anticipated to start spring of 2024. Role accountabilities: Manage the firm's day-to-day construction oversight/Resident Engineering Inspection efforts on major municipal construction contracts. Act as liaison to design staff for response to Contractor RFI's and review of shop drawings. Provide technical review of construction plans and specifications and project changes for constructability and practicality. Manage CM Field Office staff responsible for record keeping, processing of periodic payments, drafting of field change orders, negotiation of all change orders, general correspondence, compiling and drafting of required reports and deliverables. Responsible for management of CM safety inspection staff, regulatory compliance, permit compliance and coordination with other City and regulatory agencies. Manage multi-discipline inspection staff and the delivery of daily inspection reports in accordance with clients' requirements. Monitor Contractor performance, schedule compliance, overall responsiveness, and effectiveness. Exerts influence over Contractors to maintain project goals regarding cost, schedule, quality, etc. Manage the Contractor payment process and recommend appropriate adjustments as necessary based on work completed. Use effective oral and written communication skills to lead the progress of the project, safety compliance, adherence to project schedule and conduct meetings with contractor, client, local agencies, and the community. Responsible for supervising ARCADIS staff, including approving timesheets, providing guidance in preparation of Professional Development plans, identifying training/development needs, tracking career progress, mentoring, advocating for and rewarding exceptional performance. Qualifications & Experience: Key Attributes: Proven ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously. Demonstrated commitment to providing a safe and healthful workplace. Proficiency with MS Project and the MS Office Suite (particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). Ability to manage Arcadis personnel and remain responsive to Corporate requirements. Required Qualifications: 10 years' Resident Engineer or Assistant Resident Engineer experience with NYC Agencies such as: NYCDDC, NYCDEP, NYSDOT, NYCDOT, NYCTA and/or PANYNJ. BS in Engineering or Construction Management or equivalent work experience. Valid PE in New York. Preferred Qualifications: 10 years of experience including Resident Engineer experience for NYCDDC, NYCDEP, NYSDOT, NYCDOT, NYCTA or PANYNJ. Active participation in a regional or national professional association. Strong relationships with NYCDEP personnel. Interest and ability to network, support proposals and contribute to firm growth in the NYC construction market. Why Arcadis? The salary range for this position is $122,000 - $183,000.
