Department: Student Life Position Summary: The Resident Director (RD) will support the Student Life Office by fostering a robust living and learning community for undergraduate residential students in a manner consistent with the University's Mission and Vision and the Purpose of Residential Life. The Resident Director is expected to affirm, model, and cultivate the Christ-centered mission of Warner University. The person in this role will have an active and vibrant relationship with God and a passion for student ministry and discipleship. The Resident Director serves as the management and oversight point person for their assigned hall and its corresponding exterior zone. RDs are responsible for creating a positive, safe, and healthy environment for students living within their residence hall and the campus community. Resident Director compensation/benefits include Annual Salary, Health Insurance, Campus Housing, and Meal Plan. RDs do not pay utilities in their apartments. The Resident Director position is a full-time 11- month agreement (July 1st - May 31st), paid over 12 months. Responsibilities: RDs must live on campus in their assigned residence hall. RDs are expected to maintain professional relationships and boundaries with all students, staff members and residents within their assigned hall. RDs must enforce residence and college expectations as found in our Student Handbook and Community Commitments and submit all necessary incident reports. RDs will be expected to assist in safety/security efforts. RDs will serve as first-level responders to campus emergencies. RDs are expected to be live-in mentors, counselors, and role models for their residents. This includes but is not limited to, building meaningful relationships while maintaining confidentiality, creating programming and events to foster camaraderie in the halls, and supporting their students and student-athletes in their various sports and activities. RDs will oversee and monitor Resident Assistants as they maintain the halls. They will plan and conduct weekly RA Hall Staff meetings. RDs will invest in RA's personal and spiritual formation through weekly one-on-ones and mentoring relationships. RDs are expected to walk their halls regularly and be aware of and report any building or infrastructure concerns. Be an active, engaged, visible presence in residence halls and at campus-wide functions and sporting events. Assist in weekly chapel services (Wednesday mornings). Learn and assist with physical head counts at the beginning of each semester and at designated times. RDs must work at least one office day per week in the Student Life office. The attire for this day will be business professional. Open and close residence halls at the beginning and end of each semester and conduct checkouts for scheduled breaks. Oversee Level 1 discipline and refer all other infractions to the Associate Dean of Students. Actively engage and participate in Student Life Staff Meetings, RD Meetings, and one-on-ones with the Associate Dean of Students. Actively participate and engage in Residence Life on-call rotation and black-out dates. Obtain licensure with Human Resources to drive Warner-issued vans to select off- campus events. Learn and administer drug tests to students and student-athletes as scheduled by the Associate Dean of Students. Plan and lead monthly RA Roundtable as well as spiritual formation, social, and leadership events. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications: Supportive of Warner's mission, vision, and core values, commitment to a Christian lifestyle, and demonstration of character in keeping with biblical models. o RDs will be required to sign and abide by Warner's Statement of Faith and Employee Handbook. A minimum of a Bachelor's degree; Master's degree preferred. Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. Ability to work and interact within a diverse environment with demonstrated leadership and management skills are required; ability to lead students in the coordination and implementation of regular activities designed to engage the spectrum of students enrolled in the institution. Residence Hall Information: Williams and the House Dorms are male only. The House Dorms is a small community of 8 houses across the street from the main campus. Holland and Spencer are female only. Raines and Fulton is a co-ed area. One building will be male and the other female. RD apartments include a full kitchen, washer and dryer. All Resident Directors get a marked, designated parking spot. Residents Directors do not have to live off-campus for breaks. In an emergency or weather crisis, Resident Directors may be asked to evacuate campus and work remotely. Please secure a location and provide that location to the Associate Dean of Students upon hiring. Working Relationships: The Residence Director is a member of the Office of Student Life and reports to the Associate Dean of Students and Assistant Director of Residence Life. Note: August is the busiest season for Residence Life. Any outside commitments will need to be approved by the Associate Dean of Students. RDs are expected to plan and participate in all aspects of RA August Training, Orientation, and Move-In. The beginning and end of each semester will require additional availability. This position regularly requires working nights and weekends. Additional hours as needed for significant department or university events.
