Salish Kootenai College seeks applicants for:Research Technician -Temporary Salary Range: $19.58-$23.49 DOEE For a complete position description contact:Human Resources, /4977 Closing Date: Monday, April ; 4:00pm MST General Summary: Salish Kootenai College's Wildlife and Fisheries Department seeks applicants to assist with field surveys of bumblebees, identification of flowers, use of taxonomic keys, setting up field cameras and audio recorders, following sampling protocols, data entry and management, driving field vehicles, work with undergraduate student research interns, helping with education and outreach activities, and other duties as assigned. Applicants with experience with pollinator and botanical research are especially encouraged to apply. Major Duties and Responsibilities: Oversee pollinator research projects Assist with other SKC Wildlife and Fisheries research projects Drive to field locations Collect field data and follow sampling protocols Organize and maintain equipment and supplies Enter and manage data Assist with education and outreach activities Qualifications: Bachelor of Science Degree in Wildlife and Fisheries (or on target for completion of a B.S. Degree by summer 2024) Prior field and research experience Ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds Excellent communication skills Ability to hike up to 10 miles per day carrying a backpack (up to 20lbs) Able to drive on rugged back roads not maintained by county Valid driver's license and safe driving record; and Knowledge of the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes and the mission of SKC This is a temporary seasonal position. The incumbent's services will primarily be required during the field research season mid-June through mid-November, with potential extension beyond dependent on funding, interest, and research needs.
