Job Title: Research Technician 2 Department: FAES Animal Sciences We are currently looking for a part-time Research Technician to become a valuable member of our team. The selected candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining the laboratory and managing records, including lab inventories and waste disposal. Responsibilities also include preparing standard lab stock solutions and competent cells, placing orders for reagents and supplies, receiving and storing items, caring for instruments, and organizing both lab space and samples. Additionally, the Research Technician will contribute to designing and executing standard research protocols. This involves recording procedures and results, as well as training lab members in newly established protocols. The successful candidate will be directly involved with various poultry species at the Poultry Center, taking on the responsibility of daily care for laboratory birds. This care encompasses feeding, watering, housing, and ensuring the cleanliness of animal enclosures in line with standard operating procedures. Furthermore, the technician will assist in the collection of lab specimens by performing tasks such as bird euthanasia, dissection, and the gathering of blood, feces, and tissues. Position located in Wooster, Ohio. Qualifications: Desired: Bachelor's degree or equivalent. Experience: At least 1 year relevant experience required. Ability to work and handle different poultry specious, including euthanasia and zoonotic diseases is required.
