South Carolina Retirement Yes State Insurance Programs Yes Annual Leave Yes Sick Leave Yes Position Description Advertised Job Summary Under general supervision of the principal investigator (PI, Dr. Colin Evans), maintains laboratory inventories, including mouse colonies, within the animal facility according to the USC regulations. Conducts studies, analyzes data, and contributes to research projects in the field of lung and vascular biology. Demonstrates commitment to conducting business lawfully and ethically by consistently adhering to compliance policies, procedures, and regulations. This position is established in support of expanded research activities. Required Education and Experience Bachelor's degree in Biology or a related field. Preferred Qualifications Expertise in cardiovascular cell cultures, cellular and molecular analyses (for example, analyses of cell proliferation and migration, histological imaging, Western blotting, cDNA cloning, plasmid amplification, and mRNA quantification). Experience maintaining transgenic mouse colonies. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Candidate should be familiar with cellular and molecular biology, as well as physiology and pathophysiology. Candidate should have some knowledge/awareness of basic techniques for biomedical research, such as mRNA quantification and cardiovascular cell culture. Maintain detailed experimental records of studies performed. Written and oral communication skills suitable for academic research. Required to conduct business lawfully and ethically by consistently adhering to compliance policies, procedures, and regulations. Job Duties Job Duty Maintains mouse colonies in the animal facility according to Institutional guidelines, and by using accurate record and time-keeping practices. Places orders for laboratory supplies and keeps accurate records of laboratory inventories. Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 20 Job Duty Carries out studies of in vitro cardiovascular cell cultures and in vivo rodent models of inflammatory lung injury and thrombosis, i.e., performing protein visualization by immunohistochemistry and protein quantification by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays. Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 20 Job Duty Collects and analyzes the data from these studies for presentation at laboratory meetings and inclusion in manuscripts for publication.
