REQUIRED: Ph.D. in bioengineering, biology, neuroscience, or a related field; at least two years of patch clamp electrophysiology experience and two years of primary neuron culture experience; excellent interpersonal, analytical, problem-solving, organizational, time-management, documentation, and communication skills; attention to detail; good judgment; self-motivation; and ability to work independently and as part of a team. Job 2/27/24 RESEARCH SCIENTIST, PHYSIOLOGY, McGovern Institute for Brain Research-Synthetic Neurobiology Group/Boyden Lab, to join a lab that develops cutting-edge methods for imaging, mapping, and controlling the structure and function of the brain. Will report to the director of the Synthetic Neurobiology group/Boyden Lab and perform electrophysiological assays, including patch clamp neural recording, on neurons of live brain tissue as well as primary cell cultures in order to optimize and validate new neurotechnologies; create primary mouse neuron cultures for the lab and apply them to help optimize and validate new neurotechnologies; advise, from a neuroscientific perspective, on the design of molecular reagents and related tools, helping other members of the Synthetic Neurobiology group create technologies for the imaging, mapping, and control of brain functions; and assist in teaching skillsets to others in the lab, analyzing data, writing papers and grants, and performing related standard tasks of academia.
