JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS: The Clearinghouse for Military Family Readiness at Penn State University seeks a full-time Research Project Support Specialist to assist with program evaluation and policy work related to Veterans in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The Research Project Support Specialist works with a project team to support sponsored award and grant deliverables. This position can operate remotely. However, this role will involve frequent travel to our partner sites in the Pittsburgh Metropolitan area. The Clearinghouse is an applied research center, nationally recognized for its work, that focuses on improving the health and well-being of military service members and their families. Our current staff of approximately 40+ individuals has a wide range of disciplinary backgrounds and interests; thus, there will be significant opportunities to form unique and exciting collaborations. Responsibilities: The individual in this position will have the following responsibilities: + Assist with the development of evaluation plans including the development of evaluation logic models. + Participate in site visits. + Conduct assessments and determine program readiness for evaluation. + Identify metrics to measure and coordinate data collection with stakeholders. + Collaborate effectively with internal staff members and external members of a research team to propose solutions and strategies to challenges. + Collect, manage, and analyze data and present findings in written reports and presentations. + Develop data visualizations for use in project reports and presentations. + Compose literature reviews, military personnel communications, and briefing reports. + Create presentations as needed. + Create resources for complex research projects, data collection, and data management. + Develop, design, and create documentation for projects, including training manuals, best practices, project documentation, and project reports. + Provide information to project managers to assist with the creation of project timelines. + Frequent travel within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Education and Experience: This position typically requires a Bachelor's Degree in a Social Sciences related field and 2+ years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Additional requirements are as follows: + Experience with quantitative and qualitative data collection, management, and analysis. + Experience with web-based data collection tools (i.e. Qualtrics). + Experience with data visualization tools. + Knowledge of program evaluation. + Expertise in Office products especially Excel. + Excellent written communication skills with the ability to write for various audiences. + Strong verbal communication. + Competent in basic project management skills and competencies. + Ability to work independently and communicate with a remote team and partners. + Proficiency in using technology, web applications, and other tools that promote a successful remote work environment. + Ability to be available during standard operations hours and as needed by project partners. Preferred qualifications: + Master's degree in a social sciences-related field. + Proficient with data collection and statistical analysis programs (Qualtrics, R, SPSS, NVIVO). + Experience with academic writing and program evaluation. + Knowledge of military culture and military families or a military background. This is a limited-term appointment funded for one year from the hire date, with an excellent possibility of renewal. This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid driver's license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks.
