Research Interdisciplinary with Security Clearance

Duties Serves as a Research and Development Engineer or Scientist responsible for executing and managing research projects related to modeling and simulation for manned/unmanned ground vehicles. Perform physical testing of ground vehicles, ground vehicle autonomy, vehicle performance characterization/modeling, tire/terrain interactions, sensor physics/models, operations support and planning. Research projects may involve full or scale-model testing and or experiments, modeling and simulation, theoretical studies, and correlation of available data and information through statistical and or numerical methods. Develops new or enhances existing vehicle mobility, autonomy, and sensor perception modeling processes. Utilizes computer coding languages to perform analyses and develop tools. Quantifies vehicle mobility and autonomy performance through physical testing and/or developing vehicle mobility performance and autonomy evaluation and predictive tools through modeling and simulation. Develops software applications that can be integrated into integrated/interdisciplinary decision support systems. This position may be filled at either the Development DB-02 or the Full Performance Level DB-04 Requirements Conditions of Employment Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. This position requires pre-employment financial disclosure and annually thereafter in accordance with DoD Directive 5500-7-R at the full performance level. This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.
