We are hiring a Research Associate (RA) to assist in the execution of research protocols for the Pittsburgh site of the ECHO (Environmental Influences on Child Health Outcomes) Study, a longitudinal study of pregnant women and their offspring. The Pittsburgh Girls Study (PGS) is under the direction of Dr. Alison Hipwell. In this NIH-funded study, a sample of 2,450 girls from the City of Pittsburgh has been followed annually for 20 years to track developmental patterns and contextual influences on health. Several current projects are focused on stress exposures and racial disparities in perinatal, metabolic, and cardiovascular health. The ECHO (Environmental Influences on Child Health Outcomes) sub-study is a longitudinal study of pregnant women and their offspring. The RA responsibilities include data collection from research participants and their offspring via face-to-face interviews in the laboratory or participants' homes and include standardized assessments of reactivity to stress, emotion, attention, cognition, and positive health as well as collection of physical measurements and biospecimens. RAs participate in preprocessing and editing of psychophysiological data and coding of observational data. Research Associates also have the opportunity to engage in data dissemination in the form of conference presentations and manuscripts. This position is grant funded. Responsibilities: Contact and schedule potential participants from a designated pool of individuals who have agreed to be contacted for research studies. Conduct subject searches to locate subjects who are unable to be contacted. Explain research protocol and obtain informed consent from participants. Conduct on-line and/or library searches as needed by the PI as necessary. Perform in-person, home-based, or phone interviews for research project protocol(s) as needed. Maintain and update subject information database. Conduct interviews, complete physical measurements, and collect biospecimens such as hair, urine, and saliva with research participants under supervision as needed. Assist in data cleaning, behavioral coding, and data entry as needed. Qualifications: Bachelors Degree in Psychology, Neuroscience, Counseling, Sociology or related research field or current enrollment in a related Bachelor's Degree program with direct experience in a research environment required. Familiarity with computers and common software packages required. Prior related work experience in a research setting preferred. Working knowledge of research methodology strongly preferred.
