Position

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Research Associate/Senior Research Associate to join our Discovery Biology team focused on early drug discovery efforts in Oncology and Immuno-Oncology. As a key member of our research team, you will play a pivotal role in enabling the characterization of the selectivity profile of Nurix's degraders by supporting the generation and quality control of samples for our proteomics pipeline, and the downstream validation of proteomics results.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain cell cultures for use in proteomics experiments, ensuring health and viability for accurate assay results.
  • Prepare samples from a variety of primary cell lines, immune cell types, and immortalized cell lines for downstream proteomic analysis.
  • Ensure the quality of samples meets the rigorous standards required for proteomic studies.
  • Coordinate proteomics activities across multiple programs to streamline sample preparation processes.
  • Work closely with members of the Discovery Biology and Proteomics teams to ensure timely execution of proteomics experiments.
  • Collaborate with team members to develop and optimize workflows for downstream validation of proteomics results using different techniques (western blot/simple western, flow cytometry).
  • Maintain accurate records of experimental procedures and results.
  • Analyze experimental data, assist in drawing conclusions, and help present findings to team members and project stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • For SRA: Master's degree in Cell and Molecular Biology, Immunology or related field with 6+ years industry experience (or Bachelor's degree with 8+ years of industry experience)
  • For RA: Bachelor's or Master's degree with 2-5 years of industry experience
  • Extensive hands-on experience with mammalian cell culture across a variety of cell types, including immortalized cell lines and primary cells.
  • Demonstrated expertise in handling primary immune cells, including isolation of human PBMCs from different source materials (whole blood, buffy coats, leukopaks, LRS chambers).
  • Hands-on experience with sample preparation techniques for proteomic analysis.
  • Experience with development, optimization and execution of quantitative cellular assays to support QC of proteomics samples and downstream validation of proteomics results (including, but not limited to: western blot/simple western, flow cytometry).
  • Basic analytical skills to interpret data and contribute to experimental reports.
  • Familiarity with basic computer software for data entry and analysis (e.g., Excel, Prism).
  • Excellent record-keeping skills and familiarity with assay documentation and data annotation using electronic lab notebooks (ELNs).
  • Effective communication skills, capable of presenting data and findings in team meetings.
  • Experience with immune cell phenotyping and isolation of immune cell subsets using selection kits is a plus.

Company

Nurix, Inc. is a science-focused and goal-oriented organization that is committed to bringing novel, first-in-class therapies to patients. Nurix is a leader in discovering a new class of drugs that work by modulating E3 ubiquitin ligases within the ubiquitin proteasome system (UPS). The UPS is a regulatory network that controls protein stabilization and degradation - a function vital to the healthy life of a cell - offering therapeutic opportunities in multiple disease areas. The Nurix scientific team has established an innovative drug discovery platform to identify selective inhibitors or activators of the UPS, enabling the development of new class of drugs that can restore normal cellular homeostasis. Nurix was founded by internationally-recognized experts in the UPS field and received its initial funding from leading life science investors, Third Rock Ventures and The Column Group. The Company recently entered into a multi-year strategic collaboration with Celgene for the discovery and development of next-generation therapies targeting protein homeostasis in oncology, immunology and inflammation; including the rapidly evolving field of immuno-oncology. Nurix is based in San Francisco, California.
